After an early start with gun fire breakfast at 0300, we left for the Australian National Memorial. The weather was fine but very cold.
As dawn approached, the wind rose and it became colder.
After the ceremony at the Australian National Memorial, the group moved into Villers-Brettonneux for the service at the memorial park near the Town Hall.
At 1700 the group held a small private service at the CWGC cemetery at Assevillers. This conclude with a drink with the departed diggers.
In pouring rain Craig and Heather McConaghy visited the grave of Lieutenant Colonel D. McConaghy CMG DSO MID at the Namps-au-Val British Cemetery.
