As we waited at the Honiara International Airport at Henderson Field, we were given a rare vision. The Archbishop of Canterbury was visiting. When we had arrived at the airport, we saw many young Solomon Islanders in school uniforms and traditional dress. Pan pipe and drum groups were practicing.
Quite amazing, in driving rain an Air New Guinea flight arrived, and stopped about 50 metres from our vantage point. As if by command, the rain stopped and Justin Welby accompanied by other dignitaries walked across the tarmac.
Our final thoughts were for the great tour we had just experienced and that the fates must have been with us, no rain during the tour, today …
