Military History Tours On Tour - Boer War 112th Anniversary Tour to South Africa 13 June 2014
A great day to finish the tour. Again we headed out at 05:45 for an early morning game drive, and this time we saw … LION, a whole pride! A bit far away, and in long grass nonetheless with a long lens, it was possible to capture an image. The other finds of note were a pack of jackals returning from a scavenge with a youngster holding the backbone of an animal in its mouth, and a rare antelope.
After breakfast at a “Wimpey” restaurant we headed out of the park and back to Johannesburg. This part of the trip lets you experience beautiful scenery from the lowland game park through the Transvaal Drakensberg Mountains then to the plains near Johannesburg.
Trout was on the lunchtime menu as we drove the 500 km back to our hotel.
Tomorrow our tour ends and we all go our separate ways, Peter and Graham to the Victoria Falls via Polokwane; the rest back to Australia.
