Military History Tours          Beersheba Centenary Tour 2 November 2017

Our last day was an outstanding day.

An 0830 departure, we headed for Latrun, home of the Israeli Armoured Corps. There a staff sergeant from the corps explained the history of Latrun, its strategic location and the battles fought to eventually take it for Israel. The significance of the war of the fallen, and how the high Armoured Corps casualties are commemorated was also explained. Then we got a chance to inspect the Museum’s substantial inventory. We could have had much more time.

Lunch was back at our Tel Aviv Hotel.

In the afternoon our tour group split. Some visited the Rabin Museum. In its twentieth year, it uses technology to tell the story if the Nobel Prize Winner, the Israel he inhabited, and his death at the hands of a misguided Jewish zealot. The others visited the ancient city of Jaffa around which Tel Aviv was built in the early years of the 20th Century.

Another long day capped by a few drinks, an excellent evening meal and farewells all around. Tomorrow we go our separate ways after what we all agree was a great experience.
